First off, it was a bit of a struggle coming up with the perfect name for this yummy second cousin of the well known Middle Eastern Dip – Hummus. We were torn between the straight up Raw Hummus, the more obvious Western Hummus and a few total flops. I mean, we couldn’t just call it Hummus which contains cooked Chickpeas/Garbanzo Beans since ours are neither cooked nor contain this ingredient.
So we decided to mash the words together and come up with our own and there it was – Raw-mmus. Pretty clever, eh? You heard it here first!
After experimenting for a long time, researching, experimenting some more and trying various combinations, we came up with the perfect ingredient combination for our recipe and it’s star ingredient is: Zucchini, and we couldn’t be happier!
Each container is approximately 8oz of yumminess and it’s perfect for freezing which extends its shelf life of only 5-7 days in the fridge. The coolest thing is that when you take it out of the freezer there’s none of that pooling water, it’s just as fresh as can be. So obviously, we highly recommend storing it in the freezer when not using it right away as it retains more of the nutritional value and freshness.
Just like plain Hummus, but even healthier. It’s chunky, creamy and oh so yummy!
Love Garlic? Like, really REALLY love Garlic? If so, this one is definitely for you. There is no escaping the Garlic here, and when combined with the Citrus, mmmmmm!
The spice is significantly toned down in this combination and it pairs super well with the fresh flavors of Cilantro and the remaining ingredients. More flavor, little to no heat.
The Mediterranean flavors are very prominent in this blend and Olives are certainly at the front and center.
